There are now over 140 sites in this community that have been added to the Springfield Historic Register by the City Council based on recommendations from a Landmarks Board. Some of these have also been added to the National Register.
The list (found below) is readily available from the Planning Department at City Hall but information about the reasons for the addition of the sites is buried in files in the City Clerk's Office. I have been involved in the rather lengthy task of going through these files and developing an online look at each of these sites. It is a continuing process. Description of the historical significance of the sites come from Landmark Board files in the City Clerk's Office. Information on owners and uses may be different that those currently. Those that have been researched and photographed are shown with underlined links below. Others will be added on a regular basis. Those listed in red are no longer with us. Those in bold are also on the National Register. Those highlighted with yellow are Landmarks, the rest are Historic Sites.
