Washington Park - Summit Ave. & Locust St.
Washington Park

This park was part of North Springfield before it consolidated with Springfield in 1887. Thus, with Lafayette Park, became one of the first two parks in the city of Springfield. It was on a plat filed in 1869. The small park, a block in dimension, was named for George Washington. Today it includes play areas, a tennis court and area of picnics. Originally it probably had a bandstand as well.
