The lot was sold by David and Cornelia Sheppard to Manuel Maurer in 1883. Mr. Maurer, a prominent resident of Ash Grove, built the residence and resided there until l890 when he sold the house to Melinda Taber. After changing owners several times, it was purchased by Richard Ricketts, owner-president of the Springfield Seed Company, in 19l0. Mr. Ricketts resided in the house until 1933. It is now owned by the Dillon Investment Company for use as an apartment building.
