Roulet/Small/Wells/Plank House - 1328 North Benton Ave.

The house was originally built in 1887 by Paul Roulet, a French instructor at Drury College. Justin W. Small, the Senior Clerk for the Frisco Railroad, extensively remodeled the house to its present appearance around the turn-of-the-century. Zackery T. Wells purchased the house in 1918. His daughter was Bertha N. Wells, Dean of Women at the State Teachers College (SMSU). Wells Dormitory is named after her. Sally Plank purchased the house from Ms. Wells in 1962. Approved: 9/11/89 |
