Rountree Cemetery - 2900 Block of West Bennett St.

The Joseph Rountree family was one of the earliest in Greene County. Arriving from Tennessee they settled three miles south of Springfield in 1830. Joseph taught school and was justice of the peace and a Greene County judge. He grew the first orchard in southwest Missouri. Members of the family were active in county and state affairs. The cemetery dates from 1848 to 1907.
