Reps House - 935 East Walnut St.
Reps House drawing

The Reps House at 935 East Walnut was one of the best examples of the Queen Anne style of domestic architecture in Springfield. It was constructed c. 1903 by Springfield architect/builder James Heckenlively under the commission of F. A. Sieberman. Sieberman was a St. Louis dry goods company executive and an initial silent partner of William Reps, who purchased the house in 1905. William Reps went on to become a prominent Springfield merchant and community leader. An immediate descendent who grew up in the house, John William Reps, is a senior distinguished professor of American town planning and architecture at Cornell University. It is no longer standing.
