Springfield Public Library - 397 Central St.
Springfield Public Library

The Springfield Public Library, built with funds from benefactor Andrew Carnegie, opened in March, 1905 as the Carnegie Free Public Library. In addition to construction funds, Carnegie also pledged money for the purchase of books just as he had done at locations across the country.

After recent renovations to bring it back to near its original state the library is known as the Mid-Town Branch library and is part of an expanded library system.

Approved: 5/24/76
