Nichols House - 1423 North Summit Ave.

The house was built by Sylvanus J. Bunker, a proprietor of Bunker Brothers Lumber on Commercial Street, in 1887. Mr. Bunker was a builder of houses also and apparently built several houses in the neighborhood. James Russell, of Bartram and Russell Notions on Commercial Street, purchased the house in 1888. J. C. Nichols purchased the house in 1910 and added the second floor shortly after the purchase. The Nichols owned the Nichols Feed and Fuel store on Commercial Street. Several owners have owned the house since 1935 with most working for Frisco. Kent Brown and Louise Wienckowski purchased the house in 1988 Approved: 9/11/89 |
