This house, 1352 Benton Avenue, was built in 1871 for Judge Charles Edward Harwood, a Springfield attorney who was one of the founders of Drury College and a member of its Board of Trustees for sixty years. The house was purchased by Herman E. Craig in 1899. The Craigs occupied the house until its sale to Mr. Haydon, a son-in-law.
