Saint John's United Church of Christ - Scott St. & Main Ave.
|
||||
This congregation sprang up in 1887 to meet the needs of the many German immigrants who moved into the area to work on the railroad. It met at several locations as the Springfield German Evangelical Church until 1909 which it occupied the present site. Until 1920 the only language spoken in services was German. In 1968, the congregation began to hold services also at 4344 South Fremont. The church is still split between the two locations. Approved: 9/13/83 |
