Barth's Building - 154 Park Central Square
|
||||
Built by Nicholas "Nick" Smith in 1838, the BarthÕs Building originally housed a tavern and Union Hotel. After his death, the new owner, William H. Graves, leased the building to Cohn Brothers Dry Goods and Clothing. In 1878, the business became Marx Clothing and in 1895 changed to Nathan Clothing House. The business was ruined by a great fire in 1913. In 1922, Louis and Maurice Barth bought the building, then named Morrison Clothing Store. A big, brick building with fourteen windows along the second floor, the building was renowned as the "Clothing Corner in Southwest Missouri." Approved: 6/25/84 |
