The house appears to have been built by Will Bruer as rental property because the house is illustrated on the 1896 Sanborn Insurance Maps but Mr. Bruer lived in the country according to the City Directories. He was a lawyer and owned a lumber company on College and Commercial Streets. William Magee purchased the property in 1905 and lived in the house 40 years. He was the Superintendent of Mails at the Post Office.
