James Holland Keet House - 1455 East Meadowmere St.
James Holland Keet House

The Keet home is significant because it is a fine example of craftsmanship and design as well as the fact that it remained for 72 years the home of an important Springfield family. Mr. Keet was accustomed to a fine residence having been raised in the Keet-McElhany residence at 211 E. Walnut. Mr. Keet's Grandfather was Josiah T. Keet, cofounder of Keet-Rountree & Company, wholesale merchants, and he resided at 325 St. Louis Street. The Keet home was planned and built by Mr. Will Pauley. The land purchased by Mr. Keet was not annexed into the city until 1926, and the area was sparsely populated until the mid-l920's.
