Gottfried Building - 326 Boonville Ave.
|
|||||
Conrad Gottfried, a cabinet maker from New York, arrived in Springfield with his family in 1858. He rented a cottage at the above location and began manufacturing bedsteads, and importing furniture from Cincinnati. The firm had many notable clients including silent film star Pearl White. The family continued in the furniture business until the late 1940's. Springfield's first social club, "The Pickwick Club", occupied the second and third floors, followed by the Elks Lodge. It was later leased by Harry Cooper Supply Co. and then by Quinn Coffee Co. Approved: 3/31/86 |
