O'Day/Felton House - 430 West State St.
O'Day/Felton House

This handsome residence, located just west of South Avenue, was built in 1913 by Alexander Campbell 0'Day for his bride, the former Clementine Lavalle. O'Day, the son of John O'Day who was a dominant personality on the Springfield political, business, and railroad scene, was president of the O'Day Real Estate and Investment Company. A.C. O'Day has been described as a we1l-known capitalist, and the holdings of the real estate company, plus his personal ownership of the Baker Block on the northwest corner of the Public Square, merit the description. He died in 1916, and his estate passed to his widow and two children. The house was sold in 1920, and passed through several hands. Owners now are Tammy and Dennis Felton who are working on restoration of the property.
