Trolley Car Barn - 203 West Division St.
|
|||||||||
In 1880 the City of Springfield granted a franchise to the Springfield Railway Company and the first coaches were pulled from the location by horse or mule on April 15, 1881. Electric cars began operation in 1890. Area walls inside the building still show chewing marks made by the mules. Portions of track, brick support, and the repair pits still remain. The trolley system was abandoned in 1937. Approved: 11/24/86 |
