KYTV Then |

KYTV, from the start, was very community oriented. This was shown by the acquisition of equipment which would allow for remote broadcasting. In those days it meant driving a van (dubbed "The Whale") equipped with cameras and a videotape unit to various locations around the area to capture and bring back events. |

One of the popular remote broadcasts each year was that from the Ozark Empire Fair. Fran Uhlis is seen interviewing fairgoers here. By this time it was possible to broadcast live from various locations throughout the community. |

The Tower Theater on South Glenstone was a favorite spot for broadcasting. In this case it was the taping of the Mrs. Missouri pageant. But probably best remembered is the Man with a Mike program that originated live from in front of the theater each weekday during the 1960s. |
