KYTV Then

This photo of the KYTV News team in 1960 is a little misleading. That's me on the left. Along with News Director Don Sylvester at right, we were the news department. Clarence Martin (second from left) and Bob Fyan were really members of the studio crew who might occasionally go out and shoot some pictures. Notice the sophisticated equipment: two windup 16 mm cameras, a 4&5 Speed Graphic camera with a Polaroid back and a 35 mm camera (Fyan's own.) The old news "circus wagon" was in service for a number of years. |

Later newsmen moved up to a spiffy new two-door news car equipped with a two-way radio which could reach Springfield from Harrison (if you got on a good hill). The circus decorations had been dropped but the car remained very conspicuous with the news schedule plastered on the sides. |
