It's called the Land of the Midnight Sun because of the long summer days. This is very beneficial for those who visit the countries of Scandinavia because the extra hours of daylight are needed to see all the beauty and history of the area. I was privileged to visit Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; and a large area of Norway in June of 2001. I'd like to share with you online some of the interesting and amazing things I saw on that trip. To name a few of the highlights: Viking ships, a giant ski jump, fresh seafood market places, beautiful and unusual churches, peaceful fjords, violent mountain streams, palaces and castles, a living glacier, snowy mountain peaks, serpentine roads, and a mountain railway. Come along for a first-hand look at Scandinavia.
