Xi'an: Home of the Warriors

For 12 dynasties over a period of 1000 years, Xi'an was capitol of China. The starting point of the Silk Road, Xi'an was matched only by Rome which represented western civilization as a capitol. The city was built in 1134 BC. Today it has a population of 2.8 million.

Because of the immense culture in Xi'an, a highlight of any visit must be the Tang Dynasty show which features musicians and colorful dancers from that dynasty. The city is also known for its jade work and plenty of opportunities exist to purchase jade items.

The highlight of any visit to Xi'an, however, is a visit to the site of the Terra Cotta Warriors, "The Eighth Wonder of the World."
