Fun and games in Buenos Aires | |||||||||||||||||
The La Boca area near the harbor (above) is a major tourist attraction in Buenos Aires. It is the "bohemian" part of the city. The structures are unique because the wood framework is from old ships and the fronts made of corrugated metal painted in vibrant colors. The streets are lined with local craftsmen selling their wares. They sure grow them big in La Boca. | |||||||||||||||||
A must for all visitors to Argentina is a visit to The Tango Show were dancers perform the national dance of the country, the very athletic and sensual tango. Tourists are warned: "Do not try this at home". The show traces the history of the dance from its early days when there were not enough women so men danced with each other right up to its modern form today. | |||||||||||||||||
A fun way to spend a warm day on the pampas is a visit to a gaucho ranch where guests are treated to a barbecue of sausages, chicken and beef in an intimate setting (300 or so) while enjoying an Argentinean folk show. | |||||||||||||||||
Following a barbecue feast, visitors are treated by a demonstration of the by the gauchos (Argentinean cowboys) of of their riding and herding skills. This is a working ranch with cattle and crops. This gaucho was introduced as the most famous in the country. | |||||||||||||||||
