Buenos Aires, Argentina Casa Rosada
9th of July Ave.
Many of the important government buildings are centered around the Plaza de Mayo including the Casa Rosada or Pink House which is the Presidential Palace where much of the Peron legacy was played out. A portion of the movie "Evita" was shot here.
This the 9th of July Avenue, the heart of the city. It is one of the largest in the America's carrying 14 lanes of traffic.
The Cathedral The Cabildo
A visitor worships in the Cathedral which is a major feature of the Plaza de Mayo.
A historic building on the Plaza de Mayo is the Cabildo which was constructed in 1748. In May of 1810 it was the focus of the revolution which freed the country from Spain.
La Recoleta Cemetery
Eva Peron's Grave
A "must visit" site in Buenos Aires is La Recoleta Cemetery where members of many of the city's most privileged families are buried in a unique "City of the Dead". The most visited site in the cemetery is the grave (at right) of Eva Peron. Here body was finally interred here after years of hiding it in Argentina and abroad. She is still revered as a saint by many Argentineans.
