| A highlight of the Cappadocia area is the underground city carved out of rock at Kaymakli. It covers an area of 1.5 square miles and once served as a refuge for Christians from non-Christian invaders. It is estimated that as many as 3000 people lived here. | |||||||||||||||||||||
