A wide variety of vivid colors and materials were available from the stalls in the various craft malls. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Now and then these street vendors would gather up the blanket on which their goods were displayed and sit nonchalantly on a bench. Turns out they didn't have a vendor's license and so went temporarily out of business when someone yelled "policia". | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The Fish Market, with fresh fruits and vegetables as well as seafood, is a favorite shopping place for residents. There are also restaurants to provide an enjoyable shopping trip. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Mounted police provide security at the city's pedestrian mall shopping area which branches off the Avenida O'Higgins. At left is an example of the food and drink that is available at the many small cafes along the busy downtown area. Local like avocado on their sandwiches. Many American products are available. |

Every morning residents can be seen stopping by the news kiosks along the street to read the headlines of the day. You can see many strange and wonderful things on the streets of Santiago such as this fellow who was trying to keep the music of Elvis Presley alive with a very rustic drum set. |
