Barry Goldwater was in Springfield in 1964, again at the fairgrounds, during his presidential campaign.
John Ashcroft
Former president Harry Truman was a frequent visitor because of his connection with the 35th Division. In the 1960s he helped dedicate a new National Guard armory.
Ronald Reagan
Springfield native John Ashcroft has visited the city frequently in his capacity as Missouri Governor, U.S. Senator and more recently as U.S. Attorney General.
