The building was first occupied by the Mehl Anderson Dry Goods Company. The lower floor was occupied at one time by Great Southern Savings & Loan whose safe remains in the basement. The Springfield Life Insurance Company has its name on the cornerstone. The building became the Savoy Hotel in 1928 and the name was changed to the Seville Hotel in 1933. Vacant for several years, the structure is now being remodeled into upscale lofts. Approved: 8/4/86 |
